Directions
GPS / Google Maps anchor point: Teapot Hill, Columbia Valley Rd, Cultus Lake, BC V2R 5A3
If you are heading to Teapot Hill trail from Coquitlam Centre, it will take you about 1.5 hours to get there.
The best time to drive to Cultus Lake in the summer is the early morning of course. If you leave after 10 am, you'll find quite a bit of traffic both around Abbotsford, but also around Cultus Lake.

Food Stop
Another tip: do not go on an empty stomach. You wouldn't want to ruin all the fun by the rambling noise from your bellies! At the same time, we advise you to NOT attempt your food-stop around Cultus Lake. Cultus Lake has an adventure park and a water park – so many families are trying to get in there on the weekend! Parking and food line-ups are pure madness!
Your best bet for quick and tasty food is to drive through Chilliwack first to get a hearty meal before hitting the trail. Our favorite place to stop any time we go hiking near Chilliwack is Five Guys Burgers – their Chilliwack geo-location is here. Frankly, we are not into fast food at all, but these guys have good quality non-greasy delicious burgers which almost feel healthy :))) So strongly recommend.
From Chilliwack to Cultus Lake and then to Teapot Hill trailhead it is another 20 minutes or so, with little traffic.
All of the Cultus Lake hikes can be found via AllTrails mobile app, which we absolutely love!

Teapot Hill Hike – Quick Facts
There is a small parking lot right at the trailhead for about a dozen cars. You could find an empty spot there early morning or later in the afternoon. It is totally fine to park along the road too! Most of the hikes near Chilliwack have the same parking situation, so no surprise there.
The trail starts uphill quite abruptly. About 100 meters in there is a bio-washroom. There will not be any washrooms along the trail. There is no running water. Nor there are any food options around – bring snacks with you and plenty of water.

Teapot Hill Hiking Trail Notes
The Teapot Hill trail is about 6 km long to-and-back. The first kilometer or so is not the actual trail. You won't find many teapots at the beginning – we've only seen five or six here.
The wide gravel road will lead you to the path parting and a direction sign to follow to the Teapot Hill Trail. Turn right here and this is where the fun begins!!!
The Teapot Hill path is well-traveled and easy to walk. The trail is perfect for kids under five and older, and for caring for your little ones in a baby carrier backpack. It is NOT, however, stroller-accessible, nor it is wheelchair-accessible.
Look around you on the tree stumps, and inside the tree caves! Some teapots are right in front of you, but some can only be seen from afar. Look above your head too! We've noticed a dozen pots and cups hanging from the trees!
.
We've found over 90 teapots and cute little teacups along the trail altogether, but we are certain there are more! Make sure to do the little loop parting on the way back – that's a little hidden trail right behind the very first Cultus Lake lookout. That hidden little path has probably 25-30 teapots we've seen!
Bring your own teapot or a cup and place it along the route. Please be mindful, however: ceramics, porcelain, stoneware, and glass tea party accessories are welcome! But please do NOT bring plastic, and refrain from metal.
We also encourage you to bring along a garbage bag – if you see broken china chips on the ground, take them out. No one wants little kids to step on broken pieces and hurt themselves while scavenging for treasure! The Teapot Trail is not maintained, so it is up to us – Parents – to ensure safety.
Overall it took us about 3 hours to complete the whole hike with our 3yo son Cosmos. He didn't even notice!
