The Cloverdale Station
.
The old rail Cloverdale Station itself is dressed to be a mini train museum with plenty of historical relics to see and touch.
But there is also a modern component available for kids (and adults) to play with – an AR/VR computer simulation to help kids learn how you'd be driving an electric tram in the old days. Cosmos absolutely loved all the bells and whistles – he probably spent a good half hour driving a virtual train!
VISIT TIP:
The “Cloverdale Station” has bathrooms – make sure to use those before you hop on the train – there are no bathrooms on the ride, nor there are any stops.
If your little one is going through potty training, better be safe here and use pull-ups.
There is no food or drink allowed on the train – only clear water.

Discovery Centre Tours by Surrey Heritage Rail
.
There is plenty to see and learn at the train museum site in addition to the main fun ride on car 1225!
Surrey Heritage Rail offers Discovery Centre tours approx. every hour. You can see how the trams are being restored, get fun kids to ride on an antique velocipede, the service cart, and a little buggy-type old train with open windows.
Right after all the fun train rides, you are taken to the oldest electric rail car in the train museum – the historic Interurban tram. You are offered to watch a quick movie about the history of Vancouver's electric cars and have an even deeper discussion on the history and restoration works of the old trains in the museum's current possession.
Kids can get themselves occupied with train-trucks construction play tables available on-site.
Mind though, it will be hard to take them away once they got all set up with their trains 🙂

Old Train Station's People & Treats
.
The most wonderful about the Surrey Heritage Rail train museum experience is definitely the People!
Did you know that the Rail is being operated and maintained completely by volunteers?! Some come from as far as the Seattle area for a few days each summer to help-out on-site.
.
Everyone we met was super-passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the Heritage Rail and old trams. The dressing-up into historic railroad uniforms helped to add to the spirit.
The station has a neat little gift shop with plenty of railroad-related crafts available for purchase. …and since recently, some yummmy honey!

Honeybee Centre & Surrey Heritage Rail Partnership
We've learned that Fraser Valley Heritage Railroad has recently partnered with the local Honeybee Centre, and has placed two beehives on its land. A brief overview of the “lives of bees” is offered as a part of the Discovery Centre Tours.
Our family loves the fact that bee education is incorporated here. We've visited Honeybee Centre not so long ago for their Day Of The Honeybee event, you can read all about it HERE.

Surrey Heritage Rail Train Museum Visit & Few More Photos
Here, at the Surrey's Heritage Rail, we rode historic trams, learned about old Vancouver's electric rail, saw how history is being restored & got Cosmos really excited about trains (that he already loves a lot!). Check out photos from our visit!
.
We strongly recommend this fun family train ride experience in Surrey! This old train museum can even be left on the to-do for a rainy day in Vancouver – the Fraser Valley Heritage Road has all they need to accommodate. We've recently added Surrey Trams to our list of unique outdoor attractions to visit with kids in British Columbia.
Do not miss Surrey's Heritage Rail special Halloween and Christmas events! It should be tons of fun!

Check out our recent visit to Atchelitz in Chilliwack – get some fun steam engine experience – Fun Things To Do In Chilliwack: Little Antique Houses of Atchelitz.
